The Ferndale Public Schools is four square miles, includes portions of the cities of Oak Park, Ferndale, the Charter Township of Royal Oak and all of Pleasant Ridge, and serves approximately 4,000 students each year.

Our mission is to provide all our students with quality educational programs while promoting the values of diversity & responsible citizenship.

The Ferndale Schools are committed to providing the best, full service, small public school district possible. Our goal is to continue earning the dedication and commitment of school families, staff and residents in our school community. The Ferndale Schools curriculum meets state benchmarks and uses student data to drive instructional decisions to ensure we serve all students: Every child - Every day.

The Ferndale Schools focuses on four goals as part of its Long Range Vision:

  1. To achieve financial stability in the district
  2. To improve student achievement and narrow the achievement gap among minority and economically disadvantaged students
  3. To provide well-maintained, safe school facilities and equipment
  4. To keep our technology current, the environment stable, and our ability to use technology for administrative and instructional purposes consistent for all users
Ferndale unique University High School (UHS) is providing students with opportunities to prepare for their futures through a partnership with Lawrence Technological University. This college-prep school is focused on not only graduating students from high school, but from college as well. UHS has graduated three classes, and 85% of these students are still in college - well above the national average. In addition, 99% of our students graduate, and 100% are accepted into colleges.
